This course is designed for coffee professionals, including baristas, roasters, traders, quality control managers, and anyone involved in the coffee value chain.

The course spans two days and is filled with activities and hands-on experience with the latest assessment tools, which will definitely enhance your coffee assessment skills.

You will be guided by our coffee expert, Mr. Alex Pond, who has 20 years of experience teaching thousands of people how to cup and score coffees accurately using the COE cupping form.

  • Understanding the 15-point Intensity Scale chain.
  • Creating and using references for descriptive cupping
  • Understanding the CATA lists
  • Descriptive Cupping Session

Day 2:

  • Introduction to Hedonic scale
  • Affective Cupping Session
  • Descriptive Cupping Session #2 (Graded)
  • Reference Exam
  • Select the correct descriptors for 5 references.
  • Combined Cupping Session (Graded)
  • Extrinsic Assessment and CVA theory wrap up.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in Vietnam: At the end of the 2nd session, learners will have an optional cupping session using the CVA form to evaluate CoE coffees. This extended session allows students to practice their knowledge (CVA) with high-quality coffee samples (CoE). This bonus session is unique to Bosgaurus Academy and is led by Alex, the Head Judge of the COE.
